Know your parameters

In Uncategorized on June 26, 2009 at 6:22 pm

Self-awareness is a constant learning experience. It is one of the best gifts you can give yourselves. When you know yourself, your likes/dislikes, your strengths/weaknesses, what turns you on, what turns you off, etc you can handle many situations with ease. If you know your parameters, then you know which situations you should put your neck into & which ones you should stay away from. You will know when it is time to move on to the next job, what your next job should be or how you should shape your current job to benefit from your strengths.

So, how do you become self-aware? Observe how you behave in different situations. Observe others handling a situation and think how you would’ve handled it yourself. For example, how do you react to plagiarism at workplace? How do you participate in staff meetings? What do you think when someone is using up all the airspace in a meeting? How would you handle these situations? Are you doing any of these yourself? Becoming self-aware requires observation & reflection. But it is a very rewarding knowledge.
