Its not just what you do

In a quarterly results driven corporate world, there is always an aggressive deadline. Adrenaline rush to get the job done & deliver. Before you breathe, the next assignment is on you. More yet, multitasking is key & often a part of the required skill. However, it is not just what you do. It is how you do that matters.

Results have several factors in it, though only one may be clearly measured in the current corporate environment. Think about the following as well: Are you doing the same thing over and over again? Is there a better way to do it? Are you changing your job description by automating your work? Are you thinking beyond your team and evaluating its impact on other functions?

Above all, are you treating your co-workers with respect & dignity? If you roughshod them, they will deliver for this project. But, they will not be willing to work with you in the next project. Soon you’ll find yourselves lonely or walk around with a ‘reputation’. Its not just what you do, its also how you do. People matter.
